When it was time for a refresh of over 100 guest rooms in the Embassy Suites by Hilton located in Detroit-Troy/Auburn Hills, Michigan, Sara Milligan, General Manager, had a lot of choices to make. Since these rooms were receiving a full-scope renovation, every detail mattered.

One especially important piece of the puzzle was the brand and model of the new toilets, especially important for toilets in a hospitality setting. Many families make Embassy Suites their home away from home throughout the year, so the toilets in the facility need to withstand heavy use and high traffic.

When searching for the right solution, Ms. Milligan knew what was at stake, sharing, “as a hotel operator, having new toilets will reduce calls for maintenance drastically. We were looking forward to no more leaky, running toilets.”

Different options with varying factors were considered, but the company decided on Gerber for their new toilets.

“Gerber toilets offered the best bang for our buck. We are excited to improve the guest experience, and the toilets look great, too,” shared Milligan.

Embassy Suites worked with HD Supply, a supplier of maintenance, repair, operations (MRO), and property marketing products, to secure the new toilets. The final choice was Gerber’s reliable and trusted Viper® 1.28 gpf “Toilet in a Box” Two-Piece Elongated Toilet.

This selection made the task at hand more efficient as all components needed for installation are part of the packaged product solution including, the toilet seat, wax ring and floor bolts, tank-to-bowl gasket, and hardware. Additionally, the Viper saves on installation time due to the extra tall bolt caps which often eliminate the need to trim the floor bolts, as well as the double nut, multi-point tank-to-bowl mounting system that allows for easy, tool-free installation.

Not only were the renovations done for design and product performance, but Embassy Suites is expecting to see some savings as a result of the project.

The toilets being replaced in the suites were astoundingly from 1987 and had a flush volume of 3.5 gallons per flush (gpf), the industry standard at the time.

Milligan expressed, “I was excited about the toilets; it’s a big deal! And, we should definitely see waters savings with the new 1.28 gpf toilets now in place.”
