Business Development Associate

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Customer Relationships – day to day communication with buyers, associates, assistants, administrative assistants and direct import staff for continuous review of current account issues.  Initiate face to face customer meetings, as necessary.  Goal is to provide customer delight!

  • Category Management Analysis – Detailed value added customer review process. Requires obtaining customer data info. In conjunction with our Market Intel team, info is used to analyze annual unit/sku performance, inventory turnover. Info is compared to latest market trend info, comp shop analysis. End goal, provides a fact based opportunity to improve customer mix with suggested deletions and additions of new products for improved inventory turns.

  • Private Brand or Customer Line Reviews – complete program presentation: Globe Union overview, market overview, category management analysis, competitive price shop analysis, program recommendation, product and pricing quotation and other related customer requirements. Includes competitive product sample analysis, matching, ordering, sorting, meeting preparation, etc.

  • Customer Shows / Training Sessions / Meetings – Attend semi or annual customer or trade show events. Set up booth, prepare sample displays, new product introductions, planograms assortment specials, etc.

  • Value Management Project – Help identify cost reduction opportunities and see the project to execution.

  • Customer Product and Program Knowledge – Complete understanding of customer program history, PL product knowledge features/benefits for faucet, showerhead and bath accessories.

  • Quotations – Prepares initial listing of items for quotation based on customer feedback, competitive market conditions, current program, promo opportunities, etc. Develops in conjunction with our factory’s sales team.  Reviews and responsible for complete accuracy.

  • Current Program Maintenance – in conjunction with associates overseas, responsible for keeping customer program terms and product attribute details up to date.  Includes photos, descriptions, dimensions, pricing, etc.

  • Non-forecasted New Business Initiatives – as per assigned priority, works towards developing new customer relationships. Includes: Initiates buyer appointment meeting. Analyzes current customer competition. Provides Globe Union overview, market overview, sample presentation, etc.  Continuous follow up.

  • Forecasting – Provides input by account regarding estimated forecasts per category based on available info of current program performance, new products introductions, line reviews, etc.

  • Budgeting – Estimates support related expenses by account. Includes: travel, entertainment, special promotions, related shows, customer charity events, trade shows, etc.

  • Supply Chain Initiatives – Assists customer direct import logistics process as needed. Includes working on planned orders, forecasting, PO/PI status (when necessary) and other related issues.

  • Competitive Price Shops – Provides available SR pricing of faucet, showerhead and bath accessory and other category info for existing customers and participates in detailed comp shop retail pricing projects on a quarterly basis to the Marketing Intel team.

  • Flexibility to perform all other duties as required.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, or Business or a closely related field strongly preferred
  • Minimum of 1 year relevant experience
  • Previous Ferguson and/ or Hajoca showroom experience strongly preferred
  • Proficiency is MS Office suite
  • Detail-oriented; precision and consistency is key to success in this role
  • Ability to work effectively as a team as well as manage time and projects independently
